Thank you so much to all our friends and patients and Macclesfield folk who brought in their old glasses for our appeal last week. We have cleaned, sorted, labelled and filed 150 pairs which are now boxed and ready to go to Nepal with Sarah this weekend.
A special thankyou to Macclesfield Academy who brought 64 pairs in!
Sarah is visiting her daughter in a remote town in Western Nepal which has very limited access to eyecare, it is an 8 hour round trip on mountain roads to the nearest clinic most of the 4000 people who live there have never had an eye test. The clinic staff are travelling to Rukumkot and along with Sarah and the support of the Project Trust girls will run a screening camp providing free glasses from the donations where possible and ordering more specific new glasses for individuals where needed. We hope to fund this part by recycling some of the best frames and some sunglasses which we have been donated. Each frame bought at £35 will provide 4 pairs of glasses in Nepal. We are also screening for cataracts as a surgical team from an eye hospital in the south will also be visiting at the end of the month. More exciting news and pictures to come!
