We were named as a Finalist in the UK SightCare Team of the Year Award 2023. We didn’t win but after a few bottles of wine we graciously clapped the winning team who were from Kent. SightCare are a fantastic business support network for UK Independent Practices. The day after the awards we all attended the annual conference giving us new energy and inspiration for 2024. We’ll be back next year and hope to be on the podium!

NHS Urgent Eyecare Service – Lets hope you don’t need it!
We are a fully accredited Practice for the newly launched Urgent Eyecare Service and both Sarah and Paul are registered to provide the NHS UES managing potentially serious eye problems (such as sudden loss of vision, red and/or painful eye). This helps to take pressure off A&E and GP’s.
Call us first if we are open, if you have an urgent eye problem and we are closed over Christmas go to www.primaryeyecare.co.uk for advice on which UES practices are open before you go to A&E.

OOO La LaFont!
And now ladies and gentlemen for something completely different!
LaFont has just arrived from Paris! Time to treat yourself?
‘Altogether chic, classic, cool’
Today is a special day! We have just opened our first delivery from LaFont. Stunning hand-crafted eyewear, a million miles from the mass produced ‘designer’ frames with logos in chain opticians. LaFont are designed in Paris and hand-crafted in their specialist factory in the Haut-Jura in France. Enough from me, the short film below really does say it better!
Make the most of summer- with our August sunglass offer!
2020 was going to be such a scoop for Opticians – the year we had all been waiting for!
It hasn’t quite gone to plan, it’s nearly August and we still have new sunglasses in stock, so we thought we’d make you an offer!
20% off all sunglasses, including prescription lenses, until 15th August!
This applies to all our sunglass ranges including this weeks new delivery from William Morris which start at just £95. We’ve also got some real stunners across our Booth & Bruce and Kreuzberg Kinder sunglass ranges, niche fabulous frame designers who only work with Independent Opticians and the discount even applies to varifocals!
July was National UV safety month, people often remember the suncream but forget all about the UV damage that can happen at the back of the eyes. With our OCT scanner we can see and measure the irregularities that can happen over a period of years at the macula, a good reason for an eye test if you’re overdue! The crystalline lens in the eye does protect the sensitive retina by absorbing much of the UV, but as we get older this eventually also often results in cataract and a gradual dimming of vision.
You’ll never meet an Optician who doesn’t wear polarized sunglasses! There is a huge difference in comfort, the lenses filter the glare rather than just being darker. This gives a much more comfortable overall visual experience noticable throught the year and especially when driving in low winter sunshine.
If you’d like to treat yourself to a whole new eyewear wardrobe for holidays then then we also have a multiple pair offer with 50% off your second frame which may even work out better! We’ll work this out for you at your styling appointment. Just give us a call or drop us a message through our Contact page, we’ve still a few August eye test appointments left with Sarah and Paul.
June – call us if you need new glasses!
During lockdown our staff have been simply amazing! Using WhatsApp, Zoom and calls we remotely supported Emma through April and May. Tyler will be taking over in June with Sarah seeing a small number of people in her new PPE. We’ve helped key workers, done a lot of phone call advising, lots of calls to our contact lens wearers and older clients. We have also kept a few of our clients and new clients glasses going with our quick repair service. In June we are moving into ‘Phase 2’, seeing people who are having the more tricky visual/glasses difficulties. Our large premises help us give you space, and we are using the correct PPE in the consulting room. Our screens are installed and we have introduced new infection control measures to keep you safe. Routine eyecare is still suspended for now although we expect to see this return next month. In July the rest of our team will be back and we can’t wait!
